The Amari occupies the northern tip of Pattaya Bay in Naklua, where the beach road runs out and the gardens begin, and it has the longest history of anything on this page. It is widely reported to have opened in 1965 as the Nipa Lodge, to have been renamed the Orchid Lodge in 1972 and to have become the Amari Orchid Resort in 2007 before taking its current name in 2019 — we could not confirm those dates against a primary source, so treat the lineage as the well-established local account rather than a certainty. What is beyond doubt is that it is an ONYX group resort, recently upgraded, running 339 rooms across the Amari Tower and the newer Amari Suites.
What you get is a real resort. An adults-only pool on the third floor for guests 12 and over, a separate children's pool with an aqua park and slides, mature gardens down to the sand, the maai spa, a 24-hour gym, a kids' club and the Club Napha executive lounge on the nineteenth floor. The food is a cut above: Amaya Food Gallery does market-style all-day dining, Prego is a proper pasta bar, and Aqua Eatery & Bar handles the poolside end.
Now the trade-off, and it is the whole story. Naklua is the quiet, largely residential, heavily Russian north end of town, and the distance from the nightlife is the point of the address rather than an accident. Walking Street is 2.9 km south — about 35 minutes on foot, 15–25 minutes and $0.45–0.60 (฿15–20) on a Beach Road baht bus, or $4–6 in a Grab. Soi 6 at twelve minutes' walk is the nearest bar street. Base yourself here for the scene and you will spend real money and real time in traffic.
We could not find credible, current evidence of this property's visitor policy as of August 2026, so we list it as ask rather than guess. One point of confusion worth flagging: the separate Amari Nova Suites, off Central Pattaya Road, is the property that appears on most guest-friendly lists — it is a different hotel. Settle the question in writing with the resort before you book, and read how guest-friendly works.
