Liberty Central Saigon Citypoint stands where Pasteur meets Le Loi, in the block between Ben Thanh Market and Nguyen Hue, and it is the practical middle option in central District 1: newer than the Rex, cheaper than the Caravelle, and with a rooftop worth using rather than merely photographing.
There are 171 rooms and suites over eighteen-odd floors, done in the clean, unfussy style the Liberty Central group does across Vietnam — good beds, rain showers, working wifi, decent soundproofing on the higher floors. On the roof are an infinity pool that actually catches the afternoon sun and the Above Sky Bar, which has a view over the low colonial roofs of the centre toward the river; on the eighteenth floor is the spa. There is a gym, an executive lounge, a buffet restaurant, a bistro and — unusually — a small in-house cinema.
The location is the quiet win. Ben Thanh Market and the Ben Thanh metro station are five minutes on foot, Lam Son Square and the historic rooftops about seven, the Le Thanh Ton alleys about twelve, and Bui Vien about the same or $1–2 on the back of a Grab bike. You are in the middle of everything and on a street that is quiet after ten.
Rates start around $70 a night with breakfast, which for a four-star with a rooftop pool in the centre of Saigon is the best value in this file — roughly half the Caravelle for a room that is newer, if less storied.
On visitors: unconfirmed, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Liberty Central is a Vietnamese chain with a professional front desk, its sister property in the same group appears on the specialist guest-friendly directories, and Vietnamese law requires every person sleeping in a room to be registered with the authorities. That combination usually means "yes, with ID, if the booking is for two" — but usually is not confirmed. Ask before you book; the guest-friendly hotels explainer has the wording, and the rest of our picks are on the Saigon hotels page.
